"Reel Rag Time"
Kate Russo - vocals, violin, keyboards, guitar, sax, drums
Blake Thompson - guitar, vocals, bass, drums

Kate Russo's 2005's release "Home Cookin (Delicious Demos)" displays the talented artist on vocals, guitar, rock violin, keyboards and drums along with partner Blake Thompson for catchy, hook-laden songs tinged with blues, rock, pop, punk and even classical influences, featuring soaring melodies, tight harmonies and sincerity that shines in every song Kate Russo sings. Vocals have been compared to Janis Joplin, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette and Pat Benatar (with enthusiastic reviews from Rolling Stone Magazine, The New York Post and others) and are combined with songwriting influences of The Beatles, modern rock with a retro feel to create a sound that is both familiar and distinctive. As a singer/songwriter who plays piano and guitar, Kate also features a unique lead instrument -- electric rock violin -- influenced by guitar heroes Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix. A recipient of a prestigious NEA grant and an alumnus of New England Conservatory of Music, don't let it fool you: she has toured the US and Europe in performances alongside Rick Danko and The Band, Ronnie Hawkins & The Hawks, Gavin DeGraw, The Gin Blossoms, Van Morrison and more, including an appearance on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. With occasional performances as lead violinist (instead of psychadelic blues rock lead guitar) with Janis Joplin's original band Big Brother & the Holding Company, Kate has also toured with Bit O' Jane and The Elliots, and performed w/Sugar Ray, David Crosby, Little Feat, Cake, Gavin DeGraw and others. Kate's new CD "Looking For Ringo" (with Prairie Prince of The Tubes and the New Cars on drums,) is now available
