Chapa... A project that has been in the making for several years. A sound that has been in the making for even longer. The project was formed by Russ Chapa and Deacon, in late 2003, and existed mainly a two-piece throughout the first three years, with the occasional player joining in. During this time, the group released their first album, A Buyer's Ride. In early 2006, the boys grew by two, with Emil Abramyan, aka Dagger, and Adam Zygmunt. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Party Paul Pate joined the fray with much love and respect. Chapa's music has been called a "beautifully blended mixture of classical instrumentation, modern grooves, and timeless stories" and is, according to member Russell Chapa, most succinctly summed up as "orchestral folk."
The sound that the Boys have created has a little something for everyone. Blending classical instruments with modern arrangements, Chapa engages listeners of all kinds to this beautiful soundscape. There are stories of hope, despair, love, and chance, side by side with ethereal melodies, warming cello, floating flutes, singing oboes, bouncing bass clarinet, and vibrant vibes.
The band has recently completed work on a 4-song EP, Believing, and have begun work on the new album, A Look To The West. The albums A Buyer's Ride and Believing can be purchased on the band's official site, iTunes, and CD Baby. Good things are afoot, so keep your eyes open for the latest news...
