Bassist and composer Mark Bergman currently teaches at at George Mason University and is a founding member of the Virginia Virtuosi (virginiavirtuosi.com). He has lead bass sections of the National Philharmonic, New Haven Symphony, and the Mato Grosso Chamber Orchestra in Cuiaba, Brazil. He is also a former member of the Hartford Symphony and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. In the summer, he joins the Peter Britt Music Festival, and the Cascade Music Festival in Oregon, and is the solo double bassist with the Assisi (Italy) Music Festival. Mark graduated with a Masters Degree as a full scholarship recipient from Yale University in 1997. He maintains an active interest in many music genres, and was a founding member of the modern klezmer ensemble Generation Klez. As a composer, Mark's music has been heard throughout the United States, Europe, and South America and is published by Amazing Music. He received recent commissions from Elizabethtown College, The Governors School of North Carolina, Ithaca College, and the Assisi (Italy) Music Festival.
