Dutchman Tim Kliphuis ranks among the world's finest jazz violinists. He has often been named the successor of Stéphane Grappelli, taking his legacy into the 21st Century by infusing Gypsy Swing with Folk and Classical music.
Tim's first international recognition came after he joined Belgian gypsy guitarist Fapy Lafertin in 1999. Since then, he has performed with a.o. Martin Taylor, Bob Wilber, Les Paul, Bucky Pizzarelli, Herb Geller and Stochelo Rosenberg. Tim appears at venues ranging from jazz clubs to classical concert halls. Concert programmes for the season 07-08 are The Grappelli Tribute (over 200 shows performed already), Celtic Swing (Folk-Swing crossover) and Swingin' the Classics (Classical-Swing crossover).
As a continental swing jazz educator, Kliphuis hosts Jazz Violin Workshops around the globe and was featured in several editions of Fiddler Magazine. His first Tuition Book about Grappelli's style is scheduled to appear with Mel Bay Publications late 2007.
