Helix Quartet
Poitou-Charentes, France

“Tea For Two”
Pierre Aubert - violin
Patrick Rimbert - tenor violin
Hugues Maté - double bass
Manu Gibault - violin
Founded in 1999, this string quartet revisits string music from Bach to contemporary composers. Hélix journeys through Irish music, jazz, rock'n'roll, Latino music, country, gypsy and of course traditional, with flavors of each punctuating the group's original compositions.
Why "Helix?" Because all of the scientific names of snails start with "helix," and a snail is an animal which walks with its house on the back, just like the tortoise.
Why "Quartet?" Because as Bach said, a quartet is better than 4.
