A major chemical explosion took place in UCLA's Popper Theater inside the Schoenberg Music Building, causing the full-house audience to stand up and give the two explosive elements an ovation. That was during the Henry Mancini Institute's 2005 season, in the participant showcase that was attended by faculty members and participants of the festival. The piece: "Master of Puppets" by Metallica.

The same phenomenon happened in the same ocassion during the 2006 season. And mark that they were the ONLY group in both years of the Institute that received an honor like this from the audience. The piece: Get it, an original.

The two elements, violinist Fung Chern Hwei and cellist Jeremy Harman, named themselves The Evil Twin, thanks to Mr. Benjamin Devitt, their roommates t-shirt that says, "I'm the Evil Twin", during HMI's 2006 season.

Now, The Evil Twin is breaking out from the tiny theater in LA, striving to rock their way back to the East Coast. Mark the name: The Evil Twin. A new breed of band: Only 2 members, playing electronic effects without any effects pedals or electric instruments, fusing every musical style they know together. Watch out for them, NO MORE "MR. NICE STRING PLAYERS"!!
