“Twopiece (part two)”
Stuart Wyatt - violin

Violinist Stuart Wyatt constructs complex layered pieces with the use of looping devices. Formerly a professional busker in Paris, Stuart delivered his richly orchestrated live looping performances in tightly confined spaces and streetcorners, creating a broad, multilayered sound rarely heard in such intimate settings.

Stuart describes the recording of this piece as such:

It was recorded during Paris Plage 2002. The new mayor of Paris decided to close the main road on the side of the seine for the month of August, and turn it into a beach. There were palm trees, deck chairs and a couple of cafes... and that was basically it. It was very lacking in entertainment. I went there with my busking equipment after a few days (wheeling it the mile or so from my apartment) and ended up under 'my bridge'. The acoustics were great. I got stopped a number of times by people with badges asking if I had permission.... I lied and said yes. After a few days, people stopped asking, and I seemed to be part of the accepted Paris Plage entourgae. It was great... 20 or so days of 8 hours of busking.... working until 3am each morning burning CD's, up at 8am to shop for supplies, then the long walk carting everything to my pitch. I wish that I had better equipment to record the concerts on...

My favourite memory was on the very last day.... Paris Plage was ended by a freak thunder storm during the last hour... and many people congregated under my bridge for a final rendition. During that time, palm trees were being blown over, deck chairs flying around and the sand was literally blown away....
