Hristo Popov - violin
Richard Dorfer - violin
Therese Ritchie - viola

Mike originally composed this piece with the intention of having it performed on a combination of Western and Asian instruments (cello, gu zheng, percussion, and violin). In collaboration with his friend Jim Winters, Mike sent the score for the piece, challenging him to arrange it for a string quartet. This piece is the result. It was first performed by the Anima String Quartet at Mike's wedding in 2002.
Mike Hovancsek's main musical focus tends to center around Asian strings - notably the Chinese gu zheng and the Japanese koto, with innovative techniques on the Indian tamboura and sitar. He was a founding member of Pointless Orchestra and has worked extensively with artists such as Halim El-Dabh and Hammond Guthrie.
